The Pork Ramen is indeed delicious, as are the Sushi, Gyoza & Shrimp Tempura! Hands-down the most authentic Japanese restaurant in South Charlotte. Highly recommended!!!

The epitome of a pompous corporate steakhouse. Go there to show your friends, or tell yourself you can waste dining dollars, and for no other reason! I guess it's the natural byproduct of an expense account banking town.

When Melissa B told me there was a new Panera, I didn't believe her b/c I was soooooo happy we finally got one Uptown! Visually pleasing and definitely not as crowded as other Panera's, the two things that stuck out to me were the layout and clientele. The lay out is different with smaller tables and outdoor seating as well. The clientele--all business folk. I think this is the first Panera I've seen without Stepford wives and misbehaved children!! And that along will keep me coming back in the future! You can come in through the College Street entrance (beware if you sit near the door-it gets damn chilly) or through the building entrance and when I went this morning, the line moved pretty quickly. I love Panera b/c of the My Panera Rewards club and you can get stuff like free drinks, espressos, pastries and more with it so that is my main reason for visiting Panera plus the free Wi-Fi. Staff was super friendly.....like Chick Fil A "My pleasure" too friendly....I wondered if I was being punk'd or something b/c I'm not used to people being this nice and it seemed genuine so clicks for that. My only complaint about this place is the acoustics. No matter where I sat, I could hear folks in the kitchen or conversations that weren't near me. I think someone who works at Panera or their wife just had a baby so that's good to know. Also, the music seemed louder than other Panera's so it was hard to concentrate on my work that needed to get done. I had to move three times just so I could get a spot where I could hear myself think. Since this is Uptown, it doesn't seem like a Panera that people will just sit and loaf around at but I am curious to check it out on a weekend since I'm almost positive it will be more chill than other locations. Thanks Panera for finally making it uptown!

I am not a fan of most chain restaurants but Cheddar's is actually pretty good. Cheddar's is family oriented and entertaining for children which is great because I know they can get antsy when kept waiting. Cheddar's has a huge paddlewheel fan in the middle of the restaurant that looks like some kind of Orwellian/Da Vinci contraption and a massive saltwater aquarium that even I think is super cool to look at. The service has been good in my experience and the food is decent too. One thing that really stands out on the menue is the chicken strips/fingers. I honestly think that Cheddar's may take the number one spot in all of Charlotte for this particular dish. The meat is very tender and juicy. You actually get whole chicken strips with crispy breading (not fraken chicken like a McNugget) . The portion you get is just massive; and I am lucky if I can get a third of the way though most times. A good tip: If you take the chicken strips home because you can not eat them all, try broiling them when reheating. Broiling will keep them crispy and heat them through all the way. Just don't go too high on the temp. or take your eye off of them or they will burn.

HIRE NEW MANAGEMENT or expect to close soon. Now that that is out of the way.. I've been there a few times, mainly because of the proximity to our house/work, also because of the coupons which came in the Citypass book. This most recent time was the worst and was, without a doubt, the last time I will ever go to this or any other location for this franchise. There were 4 of us there at lunch time (12:45pm-1pm or so) on a Thursday. We were literally one of 3 tables there. One table was already eating and the other table was waiting for their food. The 4 of us ordered and it took around 30 minutes for our food to come. Completely unreasonable, considering we were literally 1 of 2 tables waiting for food in the entire restaurant. When the food did come, the fries were lukewarm at best, so we sent them back. It took nearly 10 minutes for the new fries to come... My girlfriend ate her entire sandwich while we were waiting for her fries to come back. At this point, we were pretty frustrated so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager, a blond lady named Christine came over. I explained the situation to her (pretty much as I did above). She said that she was in the kitchen and she saw the tickets come back so she knows that it didn't take 10 minutes for the fries. I said it may have not been 10 minutes but it was close, and that it was definitely upwards of 30 minutes for our food. She literally argued with me on every point of contention that I had. I could have (and in retrospect, should have) continued to argue with her, especially since I know that I was right. Instead, I told her to have a good day and ended the conversation. My girlfriend, who has spent the majority of her life in the service industry, agreed that the way it was handled was completely ridiculous. We weren't looking for free food, we weren't rude or making outlandish remarks... we just wanted her to know the situation and that we were less than satisfied. So my girlfriend wrote the Corporate office on their website, hoping for some sort of response... again, nothing. I have also sent them a message on Twitter (@wingsrings) - also to no response. It's clear to me that they couldn't care less and for that reason, I will definitely never return.

I chose this restaurant based off its Yelp reviews. Wow, they were not kidding about this place being small! I think my living room is bigger. In total, there were only 9 groups in the entire place and they were at capacity and we were less than a foot away from the group dining next to us (who were rather uppity and kept looking at us as if we were intruding on their dining experience by sitting near them) so I understand why they require reservations. I would say the average age of the people dining was around 50-60+. I felt a little young being there, but I wasn't treated that way by the staff, it was more from the patrons, who I think were a little full of themselves (most had that 'I'm SO important' vibe going on.) I did not get the pretentious air at all from the staff that I was expecting while I was at the restaurant, but I did while making the reservation (don't contact them online or leave a message, they don't call you back and the people on the phone aren't very pleasant -they were even snippy when we called to confirm the reservation). I had the shrimp with the cole slaw and corn bread for an appetizer. While it sounds like an odd mix, I was actually sad when I finished it. I don't even like cole slaw and I was tempted to start licking my plate just to get the last parts that I couldn't pick up with my fork. For my main course I had the chicken with spinach and mashed potatoes. Yum. Yum. Yum. Everything had so much flavor and tasted fresh. All of us at the table ordered something different and every serving was met with mmm's to near moaning so I think my entire party was pleased with their meal. The food is excellent and the portions are large (the mussels appetizer could be a meal) so you aren't left feeling hungry and bitter and when the $$$ check shows up. We never felt rushed and the evening was very relaxing and pleasant. We even got to meet the chef/owner Bruce, who is very friendly, which was an added plus.

Finally made it here, well I made it to Bill Spoon's BBQ - I ate in this building light years ago when it was Bubba's (of course, before it was Bubba's, it was Spoon's Barbecue - a certain symmetry exists even in the world of cooked pig.). Signs says "We've cooked the whole pig since 1963", and if that is a collective "We", then that is true. They serve pretty solid Eastern NC barbecue here - they cook the whole pig till it is tender and juicy, moderately chop it & include some outside pieces, and lightly sauce it as served. What arrives at the table is fairly mild barbecue, and several large dashes of their sauce helps pick up the heat pace - this is a nice Eastern NC sauce. The slaw is also very Eastern - mustard based with a little attitude, and goes great with the pork, and the BBQ Chicken, as well. The BBQ Chicken is nice and tender, but it is very mild, and benefits a great deal from a nice amount of salt, and some additional sauce, house or commercial hot sauce. The Combo Plate of BBQ Chicken, 7 ounces of Chopped BBQ, and 2 sides goes for $14.75, not exactly cheap eats here. Chopped Sandwich is $5. The Hushpuppies here are very, very good. The Chili Dog here is not one I'd order again - the chili lacks any kick, the onions go on last (just wrong), and at $2.50 this is an expensive wiener. The side of Onion Rings was actually nice - these are obviously frozen, but they were well fried, not over breaded, and had some good onion flavor. The FF were thin and crispy - nice. The Brunswick Stew ($4 for a small bowl) was simply awful - too thick and mushy (you cannot identify a single separate vegetable), and was very dark with a burnt, bitter taste. Your soda comes in a 12 ounce can, and there are no refills - cost is $2. The service was quick, efficient, and friendly. They check on you several times during the meal. This is not destination barbecue in my opinion, but it is pretty good, especially for the Charlotte area. This is not a cheap place to eat barbecue, especially at the lunch meal. A BBQ Chicken/Pork Combo Plate with 2 sides, a small Brunswick Stew, a Chili Dog, an order of FF, and 2 Diet Cokes came to $27.10 before tax or tip. Too expensive for the combined quality and quantity.

I can't believe this was my first time coming here but it was. Came on a Saturday night before the live band started (which we did on purpose). When they seated us it was a little weird that they had us crawl through every person on the right side of the restaurant to seat us in the one table empty in the very middle up under the television. That I was not a fan of!! There were plenty of seats on the other side but we dealt with it. However the important stuff... on to the food!! We ordered the bubble and squeak, which I surprisingly really liked (think potato cake with cabbage), and a scotch egg (it was okay to me and my friend from London says it's not the best he's had), appetizers for the three of us. I got the Chicken pot pie as my entree and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the Tin Miners Cornish pasty, which he liked better than mine and I also liked it (but not better than mind lol). His brother got the Lord's roast lamb which he said was good. We did not try dessert although next time that bread pudding is happening as I hear it's amazing!! Overall the food was good but not blown away by it. I want to give it 3.5 stars but that's not an option and I really do just think 4 is a tad too much. I'm hoping on my next visit I can up the rating a bit :)

Great place for Breakfast! Really like the fact that they have Livermush on the menu.. Not very many places that have it around here. The place has that "dive" atmosphere which I really like. It brings back memories of the dives in the small town where I grew up. Super Friendly service, great food, good prices.....what more can I say!?!
